Found sound from network news footage, 2004. Two American soldiers entered a mosque in Iraq and found wounded "hostiles", then proceeded to shoot them at point-blank range.
One soldier, on approaching the wounded, said "He's fucking faking he's dead! He's faking he's fucking dead!". My piece works through all the other horrifying permutations of this sentence - a response to the inevitable processes of war once set in motion. You hear the original audio at the beginning of the piece, and then every other possible permutation of the words. Realized with the SuperCollider programming language.
