about
An hommage to many resonant objects made of many materials, as deployed in David Tudor's 'Rainforest' since the mid-2000s. Since that time I've been using contact microphones to record impulse responses from objects, for use in processing other sounds -- but in this piece the percussive impulse responses are heard as sounds in themselves, sometimes processed through other IRs and sometimes transformed into textures.
Composed 2016, first performed at Wesleyan University, March 25 2016 as part of the concert "Over, Under, Around, and Through the Music of David Tudor", organized by Ron Kuivila. Spatialized through 12 speaker diffusion system. Many thanks to Ralph Jones of Composers Inside Electronics, for this recording (stereo reduction from ambisonic source, with post-processing by MR).
