In 1972, David Tudor and John Cage toured Europe with a double performance of Rainforest (Tudor) and Mureau (Cage). Cage was in a phase of improvising (!) vocal delivery based on his fragmentation of Henry David Thoreau's writings. Tudor performed Rainforest using cassette tape recordings of material from the library of sounds collected for use at the Pepsi Pavilion at the Osaka World's Fair in 1970.
This version of Rainforest was retrospectively numbered version 3 by Tudor.
This recording is neither Cage nor Tudor but an experimental recreation of the collaboration, with poet cris cheek declaiming Mureau alongside Matt Rogalsky's Rainforest soundscape, made using original performance materials from Tudor's archive.
This performance was made May 30 2002 at City University, London UK.
